Nominate a Leader

CHEC is seeking passionate higher education coaching professionals to join its Executive Board. If you’re ready to lead, inspire, and shape the future of coaching in higher education, nominate yourself or a colleague today!

Board Member Qualifications and Expectations

  • Serve a two-year term (additional terms can be held through member election, not exceeding 6 consecutive years for any single position)
  • Maintain active membership of CHEC with membership dues paid in full
  • Support the mission, goals, and values of the consortium
  • Attend monthly Board meetings scheduled for the third Monday from 1:00 to 2:15 pm (CST)
  • Engage with the strategic priorities of CHEC (Conference Planning, Professional Development, Member Engagement, etc.)

Vacant Positions and Role Responsibilities

Elected to serve a 2-year term.

Responsibilities:

1. Acts as the executive officer of the Executive Board.
2. Presides at the meetings of CHEC and the meetings of the Executive Board.
3. Appoints all committees and determines duties and responsibilities of each committee.
4. Has signature authority and authorization of financial decisions, organizational funds, and contractual agreements.
5. Ensures the Executive Board fulfills its governance responsibilities.
6. Facilitates effective Executive Board decision-making and strategic discussions.
7. Provides annual organizational updates to members.
8. Supports conference and event initiatives.
9. Ensures organizational sustainability and growth.

Elected to serve a 2-year term.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensures consistent, creative, and clear communication from CHEC.
2. Serves as a liaison to the CHEC email account and coordinates with Executive Board and Committee Chairs as needed.
3. Works closely with the Executive Board to create a marketing strategy and materials to increase the enrollment of CHEC membership.
4. Promotes conferences, webinars, workshops, and special events.
5. Maintains consistent branding across all platforms and materials.
6. Develops marketing templates, graphics, and promotional resources.
7. Oversees website content and updates.
8. Manages social media channels and engagement strategies.
9. Serves on the Executive Board and participates in strategic planning.
10. Supports conference and event initiatives.

Elected to serve a 2-year term.

Responsibilities:

1. Develops and implements a fair and equitable voting process that aligns with CHEC vision, mission, and goals.
2. Creates initiatives to expand membership.
3. Manages the external listserv for the CHEC community.
4. Establishes community guidelines and addresses any issues as they arise.
5. Works closely with the VP of Fiscal Oversight to set and reach membership and financial goals.

Elected to serve a 2-year term.

Responsibilities:

1. Encourages ethical decision-making across the board, committees, and membership.
2. Supports the integration of CHEC’s Community Values into organizational strategy, decision-making, operations, and the evolving culture of the association.
3. Develops ethics-related training, workshops, or conference sessions.
4. Creates and cultivates opportunities for learning, reflection, connection, and dialogue around ethics, values, accessibility, equity, inclusion, and emerging issues affecting coaching and higher education through community-centered initiatives.
5. Supports the Ethics & Values Committee, including identifying priorities, developing initiatives, engaging committee members, and connecting the committee’s work to CHEC’s broader mission and goals.

Elected to serve for a 2-year term.

Responsibilities:

1. Represents the membership as an active and engaged leader of CHEC.
2. Acts as a voting member of the Executive Board to further the mission of CHEC and expand its influence.
3. Identifies important issues and topics vital to the role of academic coaches in higher education and presents these to the Executive Board.
4. Assists in the planning, facilitation, and participation of CHEC meetings, events, and determining and coordinating projects throughout the year.
5. In coordination with the Executive Board, selects unique roles and responsibilities to serve CHEC.

Election Information

As we grow as an association, our leadership should continue to represent our membership. In hosting our inaugural election to select our next group of leaders, we ensure that the priorities and needs of the membership are met through these next leaders. All CHEC members are eligible to vote in the Executive Board election. Self-nominations and nominations of fellow CHEC members should also be completed through the form. Those nominated by someone else will be contacted by CHEC staff and prompted to complete the nomination form within 10 business days of notification. Nominate

August 31– Deadline to complete nomination or self-nomination.

September 2-15- Communication of candidate platform statements to membership and open online voting for 10 business days.

September 22-30
Tally results of vote, review with Executive Board leadership, contact candidates & announce new Board members to CHEC membership 
Conduct orientation for new Board members 

October 1
